Understanding Depression Across Cultures

Family Connections Project at Children's Hospital Boston
Date Published:
January, 2008

This report describes a comprehensive approach to strengthening the capacity of Early Head Start and Head Start staff in dealing with parental depression. Cultural differences sometimes causes a disconnect between the school and home life, which can be harmful to children. In an effort to combat this issue, the report examines depression across cultures and the importance of cultural sensitivity in mental health outreach.
