Promotion and Prevention in Mental Health: Strengthening Parenting and Enhancing Child Resilience

This report to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education reviews the effectiveness of programs drawn from the National Registry of Effective Programs and Practices (NREPP) database that use a strength-based family approach to promoting mental wellness and preventing mental health problems among at-risk children and youth. The report includes a description of the public health context for implementing evidence-based programs and presents knowledge about the economics of these programs. It concludes with suggestions on how to reach families with interventions and recommendations for further dissemination of these programs.
