In the United States, Somalis, however complex and distinctive, are part of a long history of immigration. This journal article provides a history of Somali immigration to the U.S., somali acculturation and biculturalism, the positive impact of better schools and parenting, and the strengths of the Somali culture such as a strong sense of communal identity and attitudes towards education.
