This Web site provides information on the 2006 School Health Policies and Program Study (SHPSS), a national survey that assesses school health policies and practices at the state, district, school, and classroom levels. The SHPPS 2006 was designed to answer questions regarding (1) the characteristics of school health program components; (2) the persons responsible for coordinating and delivering program components; (3) collaboration between school staff and outside agencies; and (4) changes in policies and practices over time. The study also reports on whether schools are required to teach certain health topics, such as alcohol and drug prevention, emotional and mental health, and violence prevention. More information about SHPSS 2006, including fact sheets, state-level summaries, data files and archives, and general information is available on the Web site.
