This report provides an overview of some of the mental health issues facing children and adolescents in the juvenile justice system. Topics include the association of juvenile crime and existing mental health problems among children, adolescents, and young adults; the prevalence of mental health disorders in the juvenile justice population; and screening and assessment, all within a systems of care approach.
