Liza Andrew-Miller, Alicia Couture, Lauren Gilman and Jennifer Kitson

Poor school attendance is a major issue for many districts and communities, and can have a major impact on school culture, district funding, and academic performance. Early identification of students with truancy issues can help to prevent future high risk behaviors by intervening with both children and families before problems escalate. Liza Andrew-Miller of Hillsboro, OR will describe their proactive Attendance Improvement Initiative, and Alicia Couture of Pittsfield, MA will discuss their successful truancy prevention programs that are conducted in collaboration with their Juvenile Resource Center. Bring your challenges and success stories to discuss with the group.
