Rural Behavioral Health Webinar: "Place Matters": A Conversation About Rural America and Social Determinants

Date/Time (ET):
November 16, 2011 - 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Date/Time TBD:
November, 2011

Rural communities are unique not just in terms of their geographic location, but also because of the unique social, cultural, economic, environmental and political characteristics. The Carsey Institute has organized these characteristics into four broad and descriptive types of rural places, which provide a basis to inform practice and policy decisions that can reduce disparities in children's behavioral health. This Webinar will introduce these four broad types of rural places, and explore their relationship to social determinants of health, as a way to present useful and practical information that can be beneficial to rural communities working to promote behavioral health equity for children and their families. Participants will be engaged in discussion about the challenges and opportunities ahead for leaders and their partners across systems who are working to reduce disparities in rural communities.
