National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day Conversation Webinar

Date/Time (ET):
March 12, 2012 - 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Led By:
Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration

On Wednesday, May 9, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will be celebrating National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day for the seventh time. This year, we are piloting activities at the community level called "Community Conversations." These conversations will focus on the issues of trauma and resilience and are based on conversations that occurred as part of a viewing of the national event Webcast in Topeka, Kansas last year.

The Community Conversations include asking attendees to pledge to be Heroes of Hope, who are caring individuals who make a lasting difference in the lives of children and youth. We believe this pilot can be an important strategy to increase momentum and support your work in the field to help children, youth and families thrive. To help launch this pilot, I'm pleased to announce that we have scheduled a special Webinar on Monday, March 12, 2012 from  3 to 4:30 p.m. EDT to share materials that have been developed to help guide the conversations. The Webinar will provide information about: * What might an Awareness Day conversation event "look like" in my community? * Whom should I invite? * What kind of support will I have from the Caring for Every Child's Mental Health Campaign?
