National Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention

In 2011, we will discuss cultural and linguistic competence in relation to mental health program development and service provision. This year, we provide a three or four part series to address CLC issues. Our speaker for Part 1 of the series is Gwen Willis-Darpoh. She addresses the overarching issues of culture, cultural competence, the conceptual framework, and organizational structures, as well as discusses strategies to assess your program related to culturally competent mental health services and incorporation of CLC standards into mental health practice.

During the series, participants

  • Gain an understanding of CLC as related to mental health program development
  • Discuss CLC issues, challenges and solutions
  • Learn strategies to incorporate effective CLC standards and practice in your school mental health programs and services
  • Obtain CLC resources

Mental health team members are encouraged to participate this Webinar/Affinity Group to work together in this process.
