The recommendations outlined in this document are intended to guide both news and social media in safe reporting of suicides among LGBT populations that may be related to bullying. While coverage can help promote awareness about these issues, oversimplified or sensationalized media and social media treatment may increase the potential for suicide contagion. These recommendations are intended to promote vital, thoughtful public discussion about the issue.
