In Latino communities, a curandero is a person who practices the use of curanderismo, which refers to the culturally rich system of illness and healing in Latino cultures. The curandero is usually a spiritual guide/leader within a community. When someone is sick or experiencing unusual circumstances, the community seeks a curandero for guidance. This Web page provides descriptions of the most common and widespread roles in the Latino community.
