Peeling the Orange: The Meaningful Engagement of Families

Family involvement is a common challenge in many school communities. Family engagement can be particularly difficult when working with families and communities that may be disenfranchised from the district power structure and underserved by school sites. This session will present the unique approaches used by a first-year grantee and a more experienced grantee in engaging American Indian and Latino families in their SS/HS initiative. Project Directors will share their insights and lessons learned in building authentic, meaningful partnerships.
