Non-Participation of Children and Adolescents in Out-of-School Time Programs: Child, Family, and Neighborhood Factors
This brief presents information about factors that limit enrollment and prevent engagement in out-of school time programs and activities, helping to fill a critical gap in our understanding of why some children and adolescents do not participate in these programs. The research explores individual factors (such as health status, academic achievement, and behavior problems) and background factors (such as family characteristics) that influence children and adolescents’ non-participation in out-of-school time programs and activities.
